I was so excited when my wonderful friend Rachael asked me to write a little something for her blog! Being the dedicated, studious, first year dental student that I am… I’ll do anything to avoid studying! So hi everyone! It’s me, Sydney! Nice to meet you, people of the internet. Hope you enjoy my blogging debut and thanks for helping me avoid studying histology for a few hours.
I don’t know about you all, but this whole daylight savings thing really messed with my week. Although my morning-bird self was overjoyed to wake up to sunlight for the first time in a few months, once the 4:30pm darkness rolled around, I realized my motivation to do absolutely anything after a busy day of class had completely disappeared.
An unpopular opinion, November is actually one of my favorite months. It gets no respect, sandwiched between Halloween and Christmas, but I love it all the same! The sky and the trees give off that m o o d y vibe that’s great for being cozy, but not so great when you have seven tests in the next three weeks. My remedy? DISTRACTIONS. Even with a crazy, chaotic, and frankly exhausting schedule, there is almost always time to dig out an hour or two to try something new. As every blogger ever has probably already mentioned, finding a balance in life is key. I know what you’re thinking: “Wow Sydney! Such original advice!” To which I say – You’re right! Because even though you’ve heard it a million times, you probably haven’t listened.
Everything in life is baby steps. Nothing happens all at once. Finding the time (and energy) in your #girlboss schedule isn’t easy. But making the time to feed your creativity, your passions, or just to have real, honest-to-god fun is so important to stay sane in all the other areas of your life.
Here’s to all you busy, amazing, shambly, talented, overworked, radiant people! Take some time and forget about the world for a little bit. Now I don’t want to tell you how to live your life, but here are a few things you absolutely must try in November!
